LCHS Class of '82 Twenty Five Year Reunion

When:Saturday, August 18, 2007
Where:Scholl Canyon picnic area, Honolulu Ave restaurants, 80's Dancing at the Blue Moon in Montrose.
Cost:Suggested donation of $5 to help with the cost of renting the picnic area (mailing address below). Lunch, dinner and drinks at the bar are on you.
What to do next: Make sure you have dinner reservations, then bring your own food and drinks to the picnic between 11 a.m. and Noon. See you there!

    Picnic at Scholl Canyon

The picnic is at Scholl Canyon, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (feel free to come at 10 a.m. if you want to help set up - not that there is much to do). Scholl Canyon Lower Picnic Area is quite pretty, with great views of LA up higher in the canyon.

Scholl Canyon has shaded tables (and functional bathrooms...unlike La Canada parks). And it's only a short six-minute drive from Montrose. The sports area in the upper section is supposed to be under construction this summer, so we couldn't rent it, but we may find that we can use it anyway. Bring frisbees, baseball gloves/balls, soccer balls...and hiking shoes, the view really is amazing.

Remember to bring food, water and sunscreen!

Here are directions and a map. Park pictures are here.

Golf and tennis are available to the public in Scholl Canyon. For those of you who wish to take advantage please take a look and make sure you call them well in advance.

    Dinner in Montrose

Did you know Montrose is now full of sidewalk cafes?

You will find great Asian, Italian and Barbecue. Note the reviews of Blue Fish Japanese Restaurant and Divina Cucina below.

Plus, by eating in Montrose we can all walk from dinner to our dance party at the Blue Moon...and if you eat outside you will be sure to see classmates strolling by.

We have reserved blocks of tables where possible. Please call Faith Jacobs at (626) 797-6694 or email her at faithjacobs@gmail.com to join in, or feel free to make your own reservations (note that not all restaurants will take reservations at this time). The phone numbers for most of the restaurants are provided below.

80's Dance at the Blue Moon

Steve Winnaman had a rockin' LCHS alumni holiday party at Wilton Briscoe's little Blue Moon Lounge this past December, and we're sure we'll have a blast there too. Die-hard dancers will be able to squeeze in for their fill of retro dance madness. Wilton says he can fit 150 of us, and that's about all we need!

Doors open at 9 p.m.. The bar closes at 2 a.m.. Dancing till the bitter end...closed to the public.

    Where to Stay

Since the Blue Moon is a BAR in Montrose you probably want to stay as close to Montrose as possible.

You know staying in or near Montrose is tough if you want a top quality hotel. Trip Advisor makes it seem like the best choice is the Glendale Hilton and the best budget choice is the Vagabond. Here are some reviews so you can make up your own mind:

Glendale Hotels

Burbank Hotels

Pasadena Hotels

Burbank or Pasadena are probably better choices if you don't mind the longer cab ride.

If you can help with the cost of renting the picnic area, we'd appreciate it!

See you Saturday, August 18th!
